Diese Qualitäten on Stage dokumentiert der Live Mitschnitt " Cunning Stunts" auf eindrucksvolle Art und Weise. Nicht nur der Konzertbesucher, auch der Zuschauer vor dem Bildschirm wird durch die ganz großen Hits " Enter Sandmann", " Nothing Else Matters" oder " No Remorse" sofort in den Bann der erfolgreichsten Heavy Metal Band aller Zeiten gezogen. Der über 140 Minuten lange Konzertmitschnitt aus Fort Worth in Texas gibt das Programm von Metallica in überaus druckvollem und authentischem Sound wieder. Zu den speziellen Features der D V D gehört unter anderem die Möglichkeit, bei drei Songs (" Ain't My Bitch", " For Whom The Bell Tolls", " Wherever I May Roam") zwischen unterschiedlichen Kameraperspektiven zu wählen. Classic Albums: Judas Priest - British Steel

Als Judas Priest 1980 British Steel veröffentlichten, hatte noch niemand den Begriff " New Wave of British Heavy Metal" geprägt. Danach sollte es damit nicht mehr lange dauern, denn das Album bedeutete zusammen mit dem Debüt von Iron Maiden die Initialzündung für diese neue Art harter Gitarren-Musik. Priest selbst waren zwar im klassischen Rock'n' Roll verwurzelt, aber die markante Stimme von Rob Halford und die Hochgeschwindigkeits-Soli des Gitarren-Gespanns Glenn Tipton und K. K. Downing wiesen in eine neue Richtung. Stücke, wie " Metal Gods" und " Grinder", waren hart, kompakt und dynamisch. Damit gaben sie das Evolutions-Ziel für den Metal der 80er-Jahre vor, den neben Maiden keine andere Band stilistisch so dominierte wie Judas Priest. Im Rahmen der Classic Albums-Serie haben die Band-Mitglieder - mit Ausnahme des damaligen Drummers - einen Blick zurück auf die Entstehung von British Steel geworfen. Dabei vermischen sich erhellende Kommentare zur bandinternen Dynamik mit Einschätzungen zum eigenen Stellenwert innerhalb des Genres mit einer Fülle von Anekdoten: So waren Tipton, Downing, Halford und Bassist Ian Hill gleichermaßen beeindruckt von der Tatsache, dass sie ihr Album in einem Haus aufnehmen durften, das einst Ringo Starr gehörte und in dem John Lennon " Imagine" eingespielt hat. Neben ausführlichen Interviews, Auszügen aus alten Video-Clips und Live-Mitschnitten bietet die D V D außerdem die Gelegenheit, die nach wie vor aktiven Musiker bei der Bearbeitung ihres alten Materials zu beobachten. So haben Tipton und Downing im Studio die Gitarren angeworfen, um die klassischen Riffs anzuspielen und gleich im Anschluss zu kommentieren. Auch Ian Hill ließ es sich nicht nehmen, die vertrauten Bass-Linien zu rekapitulieren. Nur Rob Halford hatte scheinbar keine Lust, noch einmal die Stücke anzustimmen, die ihn einst zum " Metal God" gemacht haben. Zwar kann er zu Recht stolz auf die Solo-Karriere sein, die er seit seinem Ausstieg aus der Band verfolgt. Eine kleine, inoffizielle Priest-Reunion aus Anlass dieser Dokumentation wäre dennoch reizvoll gewesen. -René Classen
