Levon Biss's photographs capture in breathtaking detail the beauty of the insect world and are printed in large-scale format to provide an unforgettable viewing experience. Each picture in Microsculpture is created from approximately 8, 000 individual photographs. Segments of the specimen are lit and photographed separately using microscope lenses, then "stacked" to maintain sharp focus throughout. These images are then combined to create a single high-resolution file. From start to finish, each portrait takes approximately 4 weeks to create. The project has captured the attention of the world with features in W I R E D and New Scientist . Microsculpture has been exhibited at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and the Xposure 2016 International Photography Festival in Sharjah, U. A. E. It has been viewed by over half a million people so far and will be touring museums around the world from 2017 onward. The entomology collection has significant cultural and historical value, containing the world's oldest pinned insect specimen and many thousands of insects collected by pioneering Victorian explorers and biologists such as Charles Darwin and Alfred Russell Wallace. |

Mit ihren frischen natürlichen Fotos der Band, die viel besser waren als die steifen Bilder des offiziellen Fotografen, machte sich Linda einen Namen als Rock-'n'-Roll-Fotografin. Zwei Jahre später, im Mai 1968, ging sie mit ihrem Porträt von Eric Clapton als erste weibliche Fotografin, deren Werk auf dem Cover von Rolling Stone erschien, in die Geschichte ein. Danach lichtete sie noch viele wichtige und berühmte Musiker ab, darunter Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Simon & Garfunkel, The Who, The Doors und The Grateful Dead. 1967 ging Linda nach London, um die " Swinging Sixties" zu dokumentieren. Sie lernte Paul Mc Cartney im Club Bag O' Nails kennen und fotografierte die Beatles anschließend während eines Launch-Events für deren Sgt. -Pepper's- Album. Paul und Linda verliebten sich und heirateten am 12. März 1969. In den folgenden drei Jahrzehnten bis zu ihrem allzu frühen Tod widmete Linda sich ihrer Familie und ihrer Fotografie und setzte sich für Vegetarismus und Tierrechte ein. Von den frühen Rock-Porträts über die letzten Jahre der Beatles bis hin zu ihrer Rolle als Mutter von vier Kindern hat Linda ihr Leben stets fotografisch begleitet. Das Spektrum der Aufnahmen reicht dabei von spontanen Familienschnappschüssen bis hin zu Studioaufnahmen mit Stevie Wonder und Michael Jackson oder auch Begegnungen mit den bildenden Künstlern Willem de Kooning und Gilbert und George. Ihre Werke, immer unprätentiös und unverbraucht, strahlen Wärme aus und zeugen von einem Gefühl für den richtigen Augenblick, der den Wesenskern eines jeden Subjekts einfängt.
