Seine beiden engsten Berater Kardinal Wolsey und der Humanist Thomas More versuchen, die Hitzköpfigkeit des Königs zu zügeln, doch während More vor allem den Frieden und den katholischen Glauben bewahrt haben will, agiert Wolsey nur zu seinem eigenen Vorteil. Staffel 2: Henry ist es leid, auf die Entscheidung der päpstlichen Kurie zu warten.
