Maceo Parker & WDR Big Band Cologne - A Tribute to Ray Charles

Einer der Höhepunkte der europäischen Festival Saison 2008 war der Auftritt von Maceo Parker zusammen mit der W D R Big Band Köln unter der Leitung von Michael Abene. Ob in Nizza, beim North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, in Madrid, Barcelona, Leverkusen oder Berlin: Das Publikum war begeistert und stand Kopf. Maceo Parker, der Meister des F U N K, fesselte sein Publikum in ausverkauften Hallen mit einem aussergewöhnlichen Programm: dem T R I B U T E T O R A Y C H A R L E S.
Damit ging ein langersehnter Wunsch von Maceo in Erfüllung: einmal mit einer Big Band auf der Bühne zu stehen; in diesem Falle mit einer der besten Big Bands der Welt. Mehrfach mit dem Grammy ausgezeichnet hat die W D R Big Band mittlerweile eine weltweite Fangemeinde gewonnen.
