The Koren Bible was first printed in 1962, with the intention of presenting a Bible with as perfect a text as possible in accordance with the version accepted by Jewish authorities according to the Masora. This is the canonic version, crystallized and passed down from generation to generation by the accredited and recognized Jewish sages.
The Bible's outer appearance, its font, vowels, cantillation signs and special page layout have won it the utmost recognition.
The Koren Font was specially designed by Mr Eliyyahu Koren for this Bible, while taking into account the need to preserve the character of the Hebrew alphabetical form (going back to its earliest available specimen), the readability of the letters, and modern aesthetic concepts.
This edition of the Bible has been enthusiastically received by contemporary Jewish authorities: the world renowned rabbis - Rabbi Moshe Feinstein and Rabbi J. D. Soloveichik, and in Israel by the consecutive Chief Rabbis.
The chairman of Israel's Knesset, Kadish Luz, upon receiving the first copy of the Koren Bible, announced: " All Israel's presidents will be sworn in on this Bible from today on. "
