Österreichs Antwort auf Nightwish beweist auf My Earth Dream einmal mehr, dass man sich hinter den internationalen Stars der Bombast-Metal-Szene nicht zu verstecken braucht. Auf ihrem sechsten Studioalbum präsentieren sich Mastermind Lanvall und seine Mannschaft klanglich so gut aufgestellt wie nie zuvor. Die Produktion erreicht durchaus das Niveau der ganz großen Genre-Heroen wie Nightwish oder Within Temptation, Hollywood-würdiger Bombast trifft clever arrangiert auf knackige Metal-Riffs und glasklaren Gesang. Kompositorisch können Edenbridge zwar nach wie vor nicht ganz mit Ausnahmetalenten wie Tuomas Holopainen mithalten, ihre abwechslungsreichen, dramatisch in Szene gesetzten Epen gefallen aber mit vielen warmen Farbtupfern und den erstklassigen Vocals von Sabine Edelsbacher. Wer seinen Heavy Metal gerne mit sympathischem Edelkitsch mag, wird mit My Earth Dream bestens bedient. - Michael Rensen

Eigentlich kein reguläres Cure-Album, sondern eine Zusammenstellung von Singles und von bis dahin Unveröffentlichtem, ist Japanese Whispers dennoch eines ihrer unterhaltsamsten und am wenigsten pathetischen. Wobei Pathos, wie wir ja wissen, bei The Cure durchaus nicht selten positiv, als Kunstform an sich, zu bewerten ist. " La Ment" und vor allem " Just One Kiss" sind exzellente Beispiele dafür: traurige Lieder, die nicht mit tief schwarzer Verzweiflung erschlagen wie manches andere aus der Feder von Robert Smith, sondern berühren. Geradezu erschreckend in seiner lebensbejahenden Haltung für manche Schwarzkittel seinerzeit die Single " Let's Go To Bed", das deutlich sich an New Orders " Blue Monday" orientierende " The Walk" und als krönender Abschluss die " Lovecats", der größte Hit von The Cure. Eine hübsche Runde, versponnen und vielschichtig, die ein gelungenes Porträt der Band skizziert und als Ganzes vor allem eins ist: hippie-esk! -Rolf Jäger

Moss und Patterson ziehen den Stecker aus der Dose Auf zu neuen Ufern! Betörten die ersten beiden Antimatter-Alben noch durch ihre Kombination aus entspannten Gitarrenklängen und düster-melancholischen, elektronischen Tupfern, so ist " Planetary Confinement" ein größtenteils akustisches Album geworden, das zerbrechlicher und persönlicher anmutet als alle früheren Veröffentlichungen des Duos. Angesprochen auf die Beweggründe, ein rein akustisches Album aufzunehmen, sagen Mick Moss und Duncan Patterson: " Sicherlich hat uns unsere Akustik-Tournee 2003 mit ihrer intensiven Atmosphäre beeinflusst. Wir wollten daraufhin eine Aufnahme machen, die zu 100 Prozent aus akustischen Klängen besteht, da dies dem Ganzen eine völlig natürliche Atmosphäre verleiht. "
