Jethro Tull sind eine der erfolgreichsten britischen Rockbands aller Zeiten. Ihre Karriere begann in den späten Sechzigern und reicht bis in die Gegenwart hinein. Im Jahr 2003 machte die Band ihre erste und bislang einzige Stippvisite beim Montreux Festival. Kiss - Rock the Nation: Live! [2 DVDs]

Auch nach über 30 Jahren im Geschäft gehören Kiss immer noch zu den spektakulärsten Livebands der Welt. Und mit ihrer aufgefrischten Besetzung können sie auch rein musikalisch Pluspunkte sammeln. Der beste Beweis dafür ist die Doppel-D V D Rock The Nation Live!. Mitgeschnitten wurde der 136-minütige Doppeldecker auf der U S-Tour 2004 in Washington und Virginia Beach. Mit Tommy Thayer an der Gitarre und Eric Singer hinter dem Drumkit mögen Kiss vielleicht nicht mehr ganz so kultig und authentisch wie zu Frehley/ Criss-Zeiten sein, die beiden Neuzugänge stellen ihre Vorgänger spieltechnisch aber problemlos in den Schatten. Während Thayer mit schillernden, ausdrucksstarken Soli brilliert, gibt Singer mit seinen satten Power-Grooves eindrucksvoll den Takt vor und legt ein erdbebensicheres Fundament für die Show-Elemente der Frontmänner Paul Stanley und Gene Simmons. Die Setlist besteht nicht nur aus den üblichen Klassikern wie " Shout It Out Loud", " I Was Made For Lovin' You", " Detroit Rock City" oder " God Gave Rock & Roll To You", sondern enthält auch diverse Raritäten und Geheimtipps, was insbesondere Besitzer der bisher erschienenen Kiss-D V Ds freuen dürfte. In visueller Hinsicht fährt das Quartett wie gewohnt nur vom Allerfeinsten auf: Zahllose Pyro-Effekte, eine aufwändige Licht- und Video-Show, mehrere Flugeinlagen und natürlich das Original-Kiss-Bühnenoutfit machen die Konzertausschnitte zu einem kurzweiligen Vergnügen. Abgerundet werden die Aufnahmen von einem erstklassigen 5. 1-Dolby-Digital-Sound, und bei gleich sieben Songs kann man zwischen vier verschiedenen Kameraperspektiven wählen und dem Musiker seiner Wahl an den Lippen hängen bzw. auf die Finger schauen. Neben den Live-Mitschnitten besteht das Hauptprogramm von Rock The Nation Live! aus sechs kurzen Dokumentationen, die die Musiker abseits ihrer Arena-Konzerte zeigen. Man ist dabei, wenn Kiss (unmaskiert) den Soundcheck durchziehen, in den Umkleidekabinen ihr Make-up auftragen, mit ihrem Privatjet von einer Show zur nächsten fliegen, bei Autogrammstunden ihre Fans treffen, Foto-Sessions abhalten und in Australien intime Clubshows bestreiten.
